5 Tips for Enjoying Antelope Canyon

This trip was as spectacular as it looks. If it’s on your bucket list, keep it on your bucket list!

I have been asked by a few people how much hiking we had to do for the Lower Canyon. Really there is not a lot. You have to get down to the canyon, which is just a few minutes walk away. Then you have to go down the stairs to get into the canyon. After that you go through at a very slow pace. They give each group time to take lots of pictures without having to have others in your photos. They do such a great job of this. Plus [Read more…]

5 Tips to Planning the Perfect Road Trip in Europe and Beyond

5-tips to planning the perfect european road trip

We just did a trip in Italy and Spain in which we discovered and enjoyed some beautiful small charming towns. From Instagram to Facebook all my friends were asking me,  “How did you even find these little towns?” Well I wish I could say I have this great method, but instead it’s just happy accidents. I will show you 5 ways I stumble upon these happy accidents that end up [Read more…]

The Cotswold Really Are That Charming!

stow on the wold

Everything is so charming in Stow on the Wold

We did a driving vacation from Glasgow, Scotland to London, England. We made a few stops along the way, but our most favorite stop was in the Cotswolds. Before we actually drove into the Cotswolds we stopped at Cheltenham. We stopped to get coffee and maybe ask for some suggestions. We didn’t have a place to stay, we thought we would just hope for something special. I had found a few places on [Read more…]

Alaska

Perfect day to hike on this glacier

Perfect day to hike on this glacier

We have been planning this extended family vacation for about a year and a half now. My family is very much into the great outdoors like fishing and hunting. That’s what happens when you grow up in Eastern Oregon. Although that is not what I love to do, I do really enjoy hiking and just being outside.

Let me just say this, Alaska is [Read more…]

6 Crazy Packing Tips

How to make it all fit in a carry on. You got this!

How to make it all fit in a carry on. You got this!

I’ve been thinking that I have needed to write this post for awhile now. I recently had a few people ask me for my packing tips, since we always pack so light, and they can’t seem to do the same. So I decided it was finally time to make my wacky secrets known to all. I did warn one girl (a friend of my daughters) not to make fun of my tips, since they aren’t typical, or at least I haven’t seen anyone post these things, but then again I have not read every single travel blog.

We like to move around as we travel, which means getting in and out of our suitcase almost daily and repacking it daily. The longest trip we have done is [Read more…]

Looking from inside Central Park into the city

We leave for New York in a few days and we have never been before. I have my list of places I want to see and even some places to eat. When you plan you kind of get an idea of what you think a place will look like, so I’ve decided to make this a post about What We Expect to see, What we hope to see and then what we actually do and any other tips that we discovered along the way. How To Get To the Front of the Plane

Sitting in the front of the plane

Who doesn’t love sitting up front when you fly? Yeah, every single one of us.  One of the best things about collecting miles and points is you have the option to take advantage of the best class of service when you want to.  You get to enjoy the best of the best, all without spending a dime.

Something I recently discovered is there are a lot of opportunities for purchasing business and first class tickets for little more (sometimes even less!) than economy tickets.  I’m not talking about crazy expensive, fully refundable, overpriced economy fares, but normal priced ones we would all consider if we needed to fly somewhere on our own dime.

Amy and I recently took advantage of one of these opportunities, booking first class on Delta for both of us for $25 less than economy on the cheapest airline we could find (at the time it was Southwest).  We took advantage of a companion coupon we had on Delta.

One of the key resources that has gotten me thinking outside the box when it comes to purchased, as well as award airfare, is First Class Flyer.  This monthly newsletter details lots of ways to purchase cheap business and first class airfare, along with ways to maximize your miles and point redemptions for the best seats on the plane.

In the spirit of the holidays, we are going to give away THREE 12-week subscriptions to First Class Flyer.  One of the coolest things is you’ll have access to the entire archive of past FCF newsletters during the 3 months.  If you put in some reading time, you’ll learn a TON about getting to the front of the plane.

To enter, all you need to do is (Do one or all, each one will get you an entry)

Giveaway closes on Saturday, December 20th at midnight (pacific time)  and winner will be announced Sunday. CLOSED

Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Beautiful Rothenburg Germany

Beautiful Rothenburg Germany

Out of all the places we visited on our Central European Driving Vacation this was our favorite place. I know kind of crazy that we would choose a small, very small, town over some of the beautiful big cities we encountered, but the slower pace won us over. Like many places on this trip, this was not our first time visiting this city. When we lived in Germany this was one of those places we would take friends when they came from the states because it’s that fabulous. One thing we had never done was [Read more…]
