We have been to Lincoln City plenty of times.  And we have driven past the http://blackfishcafe.com many times, yet never stopped.  Well we decided to give it a try.  We do things on a budget, but we like good food.  We went at lunch time so it would be cheaper, and the selection was still amazing. I ordered a smoked salmon pasta.  I chose this off of a recommendation from our watress because she said that they smoke their own salmon in house.  The dish was amazing.  My husband ordered the fish tacos and really enjoyed them.  My son, on a mission to find the perfect clam chowder, tried a big bowl of theirs and was completely happy.  That and I shared my huge plate of pasta with him.  And then there is my daughter, who always likes to eat hamburgers.  It was one big beautiful burger though.  Good choice on her part.  The whole meal including tip cost us $50.25 and no one left hungry.  Not McDonalds cheap, but great , non greasy, and something I couldn't make at home (except for the burger).  Give it a try.  The only thing you need to remember is to make reservations.  This building is little and it packs out quickly.  We had gone at an off time, so we waited 10 minutes without a reservation before we were seated.

I told you, even though we like roller coasters we do enjoy other vacations as well.  So here are some tips for the Oregon Beach.

Even though we are very close to the Oregon coast we don't get there much.  I guess I am not much of a beach lover.  Not sure if it's the wind or the sand.  But the opportunity arose for us to go to the beach for a weekend, so we took advantage of it.

We headed towards Lincoln City, Oregon.  We have a friend with a beach house there, and he lets us use it.  So we were off to find good food and good times.

Even though we were staying in Lincoln City we enjoy a few places in Depot Bay.  Plus if the tide is high it's fun just to watch the waves crash against the rocks.

We headed down to eat at the Chowder Bowl in Depot Bay, Oregon.  In the past we had always enjoyed this.  We are a family that eats rather good and pretty healthy.  We also are becoming foodies, which means we like really good food.  Anything you order at the Chowder Bowl is fried.  There are no other options.  The soup, which is good, is very, very rich.  So much so that  non of us could finish ours.  We pretty much decided that we wouldn't eat there again.

But not to ruin a perfectly good trip to Depot Bay, we headed to Ainslee Salt Water.  Not sure why, but this has always been our favorite place to buy salt water taffy.  And this was the perfect fix to a not so good meal.
